is this persistent? If you leave the inbox and come back, are the two messages still threaded together? If so, I'd say this is because of the switch to "correct" threading away from subject threading, though I'm not familiar enough with the correct threading code to be able to guess how it got confused...

I just saw gloda still threading things together because it either got a null or empty reference. If it can happen to gloda, it probably can happen to other consumers. My suspicion was just that the number of references got latched at the 'incorrect' value in some cases before I 'fixed' the parsing code (although I'm not sure how that would happen as that value is supposed to be calculated on-load). Maybe the parsing code is not as fixed as I thought...

We have other bugs about threading and seem to have no way to prove the reporter's issue is gone. So I think we can retire this.
