477217 - Option for wrapping text messages has no effect

There is a option for wrapping lines in text messages after a specific count of characters.
The standard wrapping has to less characters, so i set it to 150 characters.

This has no effect!
The lines are wrapped at the same point at about 65 characters. :-(

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set to 150 characters
2. Write mail with long lines
3.
Actual Results:  
Wrap at 65 characters

Expected Results:  
Wrap at 150 characters

Did you start a new mail after setting the option?

Preferences are broken for compose windows, they only apply to new windows, not existing ones.

Yes of course.

But now i supposed this bug belongs only to the icedove-version of debian i am using.
I downloaded the original Thunderbird and the error is not existend in the original version.

I opened now a bug at debian referring to this bug:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=517140

This problems of divergent versions of thunderbird -> icedove are annoying.
I understand and respect the reasons that caused the icedove-version, but it is not good that this problems are remaining.
