We would like to host some additional screencasts on videos.mozilla.org before full screencast support is implemented in SUMO later this year. These new screencasts would primarily be on contributor documentation pages, which get ~10000 hits per month, so bandwidth shouldn't be a large concern.

The exact location of the videos does not matter; we just need to be able to embed them in support.mozilla.com. http://videos.mozilla.org/screencastcontest/ was used to host the winners of last year's screencasts, so it would make sense to put these in the same place.

I will be the one uploading these at first, but Cheng and Chris may also need access later. (Access instructions can be sent to our LDAP e-mail accounts)
http://videos.mozilla.org/sumo or http://videos.mozilla.org/sumo_screencasts also works if that makes more sense.

a=djst from a sumo point of view (but obviously IT has to approve)

The LDAP accounts are:

mmiddleton@mozilla.com
cwang@mozilla.com

I'm less concerned about request rates or bandwidth than I am with storage requirements. Can you give me an idea of what you'd need for storage? How much storage would you need to handle at least a year's worth of video uploads and content?
Each screencast is rather small, usually under 5MB. Most screencasts are under 2 minutes, don't have sound, and will only be used on select pages until screencast support is expanded to contributors. Longer screencasts may be used for Support Firefox Day and for contributor introduction pages. A one-hour screencast would use ~120MB.

So, our usage before full screencast support is implemented later this year should be under 0.5GB. Once screencast support is implemented for contributors, an upper limit would be 2GB to handle screencasts on the top 200 articles. (If non-en-US locales upload translated screencasts, this number may be higher)
oremj is looking into some method to get content uploaded to videos.mozilla.org.

Any idea when this might be ready?

Your files will appear at: http://videos.mozilla.org/serv/
