Can you please create a new, additional test profile ?
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles
I realized that I had neglected to clear my cache before running in safe mode. When I cleared the cache, the sites worked in safe mode. I then went back into normal mode and started to selectively disable my add-ons. The problem was in Adblock Plus. When I set Adblock Plus to stop monitoring these sites, everything worked ok. Thanks very much for your help.
