User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.6) Gecko/2009011913 Firefox/3.0.6 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.6) Gecko/2009011913 Firefox/3.0.6 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) When bookmarking by drag and drop of url into toolbar folders, it saves the url as the link name rather than saving the page title. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Click on URL of current page 2.Drag to toolbar and hover over bookmark folder 3.Drop url into bookmark folder on toolbar. 4. URL is recorded as the link name. Actual Results: When looking at properties of bookmark. The url is in both the URL section and the page title section. Expected Results: It used to be the case that the link name would record the page title of the current bookmark. This occurs when bookmarking through the 'Bookmark this page' process.

It happens on every pc I have firefox installed. It happens on every link I drag from the address bar into my bookmarks on either toolbar or in the 'Bookmarks' list.

wait, you drag from the address bar? What happens if you drag a link from a page?

There's an icon button at the left side of the address bar that shows the icon for the current page. Are you dragging that icon or the URL text itself?

I am dragging the text itself. But I just tested the icon, and I see that it works. As in it uses hte page title as the link name. So is that a new feature, as opposed to a bug? Would explain why I couldnt find in any of my lengthy searching anyone else with this issue.

Are you sure you hadn't dragged the icon before? I don't think it was ever the case that if you drag the URL (or any other text), the new bookmark is properly titled. Marking this as an enhancement request. It's likely that the URL in the address bar is visited, so we could look in history and get the page's name for the new bookmark.

I am certain that I used to drag the url from the address bar to my toolbar and the correct page title would be recorded in 'Link name'. I have never dragged from the icon until yesterday. Unless... its because the icon used to be sitting within the text area of the address bar, and so effectively as I dragged the text to the toolbar, it was also dragging the icon??????

On the latest FF 60.0 nightly on Mac, I just tried dragging a link to a toolbar folder for: url text from address bar (for loaded page), icon and tab title, in all cases the bookmark got the page title.
