Build Identifier:
Since I installed(I do not know why), in a winXp box, a toolbar from the ask.com site, the system is unable to run the firefox browser(one proccess appears idle in background).
After that I deinstalled it and reinstall firefox but the app. behaves the same.
Sorry for the poor explanation, but I do not remember more details, the only thing is that I'm frustrated using ie... Ask me for any question related and suggestions on how to debug this issue...
I was running firefox 3.0.6 on winXp...
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install ask.com search plugging.
2.Die into ask.com bar threads...
3.Firefox won`t show the user interface...
4.You can see as ie deinstalled the search bar correctly and executes as usually.

Please try running Firefox in its safe-mode:
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
Related to bug and safe mode:
How to start Firefox in Safe Mode
Close down Firefox completely: At the top of the Firefox window, click the File menu, and select the Exit menu item.Close down Firefox completely: On the menu bar, click the Firefox menu, and select the Quit Firefox menu item.Close down Firefox completely: At the top of the Firefox window, click the File menu, and select the Quit menu item.
GUI doesn't start, there's only a firefox process on background...

So you closed Firefox, killed the process firefox.exe, and still you are not able to start firefox in its safe-mode?

You can first try it with a new profile :
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles
Creating a new profile avoids the circumstance that keeps me using ie(thank you!!).
Should I mark as resolved below?
Best Regards,
Manuel.

It's difficult to find the reason because you have to do try&error with your old profile.
