Hi Steven. Here's another revised 3.1 page for you...thanks!

Side note: even those this (and the other revised download.html pages) were created as part of the 3.1 cycle, we'd like to push them live (at least the en-US version) before 3.1 launches, since there aren't any specific 3.1 references in the content.
Same as the Mac/Linux page (so these will all get fixed at the same time):

[1] Page has 3 validation errors
[2] Please punctuate "What is Mozilla" with a "?"
[3] The link to "Visit Firefox Support" should just be
http://support.mozilla.com/, rather than "http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/"
[4] There's a typo: "intermedia" should be "intermediate"
[5] I'm not getting downloads auto-started using either IE 6 or IE 7.
Actually, I think [5] is OK, as if you come from https://www-trunk.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/products/firefox (or the other entry points that link to download.html), we set a variable/flag. that that page uses to pop-up the Save File As... dialog.
Issues 1, 2, 3 and 4 are fixed in trunk in r22501. I think #5 is ok as well.
[6] Can we line up the "Visit Firefox Support" link with the "Learn Some New Secrets" and the "What is Mozilla?" links?
Issue [7] fixed in trunk in r22513.
John: isn't the "to leap boldly" phrase in "Now you’re ready to leap boldly into a new era of Web surfing." a split infinitive?

Yes, but I reject that grammatical rule! Seriously though, I think it's fine as is...thanks, as always, for your eagle eyes.

Question:

The caption text under "3" is small, followed by larger text; in both "1" and "2", the caption text is larger, followed by smaller text.

Is this expected?

This is now the mock-ups were done, so I can confirm that it's not a mistake in implementation.
Really sorry for the delay on this, guys. Been swamped, but not a good excuse.

I know Windows 2000 is officially supported, but anyway we can fix this to reflect the button difference (see comment 10)?

I'll test Windows 7 tomorrow, to be sure; Vista and XP look great.
I am not getting auto-download in IE6 on win xp sp2 machine.
"Click here" works fine though and clicking it starts the download process.

Zooming in download.html page breaks the UI in Safari 3.2.2 and IE6

Krupa, I noticed this too, but then remembered that we're passed this page from the /firefox/ page, which automatically causes a file-download popup to, well, pop-up :-)

The zoom issues I think we can split out into a separate bug -- I believe they exist in production (because I never before tested that :-()

Thanks for the good finds!
In the download.html page, the three images under "Just follow these easy steps to get started" section are of varying sizes-

1st image-263px × 182px
2nd image-270px × 212px
3rd image-258px × 213px

Since these images are placed side by side, the difference in the size is distinguishable.

Is this by design?

This is indeed by design. These dimensions were included in the original mockup from The Royal Order.
One of the goals of updating the download.html instructions and the code is to make sure that users will only see relevant instructions (the only exception here is mac users who will all see the mac page).

Regarding comments 10 and 11, the Windows page was only going to be shown to users of Windows XP, Vista and above downloading with IE. Others were going to see the default page (the one closest to the former Linux page).

I'm open to having a page with the correct instructions and screenshots for Win2000 users if we have those available, otherwise they should see the default.
I still think comment 8 should be fixed; it seems like a clear mistake in the mockup. It seems obvious to me that "Double-click on the Firefox icon whenever you want to go online." fits along with the other two instructions/captions, and the text above it really should be beneath it.

Otherwise, we're ready to go...
