The Mozilla installer needs more descriptive component names and descriptions.

These are my suggetions:
Name: Web browser
Description: Web browser software

Name: Mail
Description: Email and Newsgroup software
vera is our tech writing god.
Goddess. (Blush)

Those names and descriptions sound good to me.

(Someday, let's start a "Mozilla Style Guide" project. I know we already have a
style guide for mozilla.org, but it would be neat to create a style guide for
web terminology. The Netscape Style Guide is more than three years old --
practically an antique!)
oops. sorry...
Perhaps this is invalid and bug 48940 should be fixed instead...?
According to Daniel Veditz:
news://news.mozilla.org/39982D97.72A62AFB%40netscape.com

"Mozilla Seamonkey" as the name for the browser, should be changed into
"Navigator".
*** Bug 48940 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
The new names are:
"Navigator", "Web browser software"
"Mail", "Email and Newsgroup software"

just like in the Netscape6 installer!
Keywords: patch, review

Depends on: 51153
I'd prefer Mail & News to just Mail, but..

Keyword soup. No nsbeta3 nom this is mozonly.

Asa do you have any opinion on the names? If no one objects and we don't
switch installers ... Is this fixed? verifyme. It would be polish.
Currently the names and desc are:
"Mozilla Navigator" - "The Mozilla internet browser"
"Mail & News" - "Mozilla Mail & News"
"Chatzilla" - "Chatzilla IRC client"

Why suddenly Mozilla Navigator? why not just Navigator..?
Depends on: 52052
Navigator sounds better.

P.S. "Internet" should be capitalized
s/Internet/Web/
Unless you plan to add gopher: and various other internet protocols.
Status: NEW → ASSIGNED
So can we agree on:
"Navigator", "Web browser software"
"Mail", "Email and Newsgroup software"
"Chatzilla" - "IRC client"
?
Priority: P3 → P2
No, because legal should have told us to rename Chatzilla.
Replace software, maybe {client|package|component}
Why cant we just make the change so that we use:
"Navigator", "Web browser software"
"Mail", "Email and Newsgroup software"

and leave the Chatzilla change to a later time?
Ok we can ignore chatzilla for now. My note was more of a general thing to
remind us that something has to be done. I don't have any contacts in aol
legal.

"Navigator", "Web browser"
"Mail", "Email and Newsgroup component" hrm "Email and Newsgroup package"

browser software sounds awkward and repetitive. I'm not sure ...

For some reason
"Web browser"
"IRC client"
"Mail and News reader"
sound natural. even though mail/news readers also compose. Verah's right we
need style guidelines.

This really should be finalized real soon!

Me final suggestion:
"Mozilla Navigator" -  "Web browser"
"Mozilla Mail and News" - "Mail and News reader"
"Chatzilla" - "IRC client"
attaching patch and CC:'ing some mozilla.org folks in case of objections.
Attached patch patch #2Splinter Review
r=dveditz
So now it's:
"Navigator" = "Web browser"
"Mail & News" = "Email and Newsgroup software"
"Chatzilla" = "IRC client"

Shouldn't "Mail & News" be "Mail and News"
not as far as I was told/aware.
sr=mscott
I showed this to Mitchell and she is fine with this. However
I would capitalize more

"Navigator" = "Web Browser"
"Mail & News" = "Email and Newsgroup Software"
"Chatzilla" = "IRC Client"

patch checked in with case suggestions from Dawn.

Adding software to mail&news and not to the browser makes no sense to me
imho of course
software is redundant..
