vista home premium
was in yahoo mail classic compose mode
clicked another tab shut
got: black screen to reboot normally or in safe mode
upon normal reboot, did not get usual network connection
another cold boot restablished the system
Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce
In general, FF3.1.6 and prior have been very flaky with latest flash on page globeinvestor.com.

Even if a program (or a plugin in the program, such as Flash as you mention) has a problem, the OS should be stable. If your OS is crashing it's a problem with your OS. Probably your video drivers, so I suggest you try updating those first.

v. Firefox is a user-mode app and by itself cannot crash the kernel.
