Hi Stephen. The Firefox features page is ready for your QA review...this is kind of a big one.

Three things I should go ahead and mention:
1. In the top section, "Top New Features" should actually read "Top Features" (note to Steven)
2. The graphic in the performance section isn't final...will need some tweaking once the final numbers are in, and I don't feel like the coloring of the bars is quite right yet (it's confusing). When the final one is ready, we'll just swap out the files so it shouldn't impact the rest of the page.
3. Steven asked me to mention that he's still wrestling with a particularly tricky HTML validation issue (it's on line #515).

Thanks!
- Small typo: "applicaitons" should be "applications" in the Performance-Super Speed section

- Small typo: "Fashin Your Firefox" should be "Fashion Your Firefox" in the customization section.

- The Personas link should point to the location of the new personas website (getpersonas.com?)

- The awesomebar's "launch the video" is missing the video graphic

- Small typo: "whiel" -> "while" in the universal access-downloadable fonts section

- Offline browsing "Learn more" link points back to the features page
- EcmaScript 4 should read "ECMAScript 4".

- "enchanced" should read "enhanced"

- is it "badguys" or "bad guys? -- the latter, I'd assume

- "glace" should be "glance"

- "teh Add-ons Manager"

- "next stime you start."
all issues from comment #2 are fixed in r22564 and r22565.

Are we in need of links for the missing hrefs in comment 1?

Not sure where that should link?

The video links are waiting on the URLs for the updated video section, which is still in-progress.
Krupa, feel free to take a look at this, if you'd like. Thanks!
"Launch the video" links don't launch any videos.
eg: Launch video link for "Awesome Bar" and "Security and Privacy" have no videos linked.
Is this a known thing?

Yep, we're waiting for the video page to be coded...at that point, the video links will all work.
I've tested the layout in:

* Firefox 3.0.7 (Windows XP)
* Firefox 3.5 beta 3 (Vista, Mac)
* Safari 3.2.2/3.2.1 (Windows, Mac)
* Opera 9.6 (Windows XP)

John, your assertion in comment 8 isn't correct; the links are empty:

Launch the video

Steven will need to update them before we launch this page; how/where are we tracking that?

John?
Sorry about the delay/lack of communication on my part. This page is sort of on a holding pattern until we know more about the final features list for 3.5.
Thanks -- just wanted to make sure I wasn't unnecessarily blocking Steven/the team.
Summary: Please QA the revised Firefox features page (for 3.1) → Please QA the revised Firefox features page (for 3.5)
The Video links are now linked in trunk (r24332).
(In reply to comment #13)
> The Video links are now linked in trunk (r24332).

Steven, in addition to the /video page's validation issues (bug 487870), there is also, on this page, "Line 515, Column 25: document type does not allow element "noscript" here; missing one of "object", "ins", "del", "map", "button" start-tag

//
<img src="/en-US/img/tign"
A few things I noticed:
* all the graphics on the page promote the number 3 for Firefox 3, now we are at 3.5, shouldn't the images reflect that ?
* titles on top of page don't all match with titles in the page ex: blinding speed/super speed, Easy Customization/Customization...
*"We have over 40 different translations" that should be 60
* "See the full list of supported technologies." links to https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Firefox_3.1_for_developers, it should link to https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Firefox_3.5_for_developers
* I think the search engine link should be https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:4/cat:all?sort=name
* "RSS Feed Reader" should be "Web Feed Reader" whoch I think is the terminology we now use as we support both rss and atom formats
* the page title puts 'Features: Faster, more secure, & customizable', I don't really like the comma before & ;)
* the screenshot for the awesome bar as a drop down list of sites that are displayed like in Firefox 3 but I think the list looks different in 3.5, for example the url links should be blue (not 100% sure as I am a Linux user and the screenshot is a Vista one)
* "Fasten your seatbelt: Firefox 3.1 includes the TraceMonkey" should be 3.5
* "Web applications like email, photo sites, online word processors and more will load much more rapidly." This is actually wrong, the web sites won't load faster (or marginally), the interaction with these web sites once loaded will be loaded
* the "forget this site" described feature looks cool but actually I don't think we support this feature ;)
s/will be loaded/will be faster
Good observations, thanks Pascal. Let me do a little outside research and I'll get back to you all with the best way to address/resolve them.
We actually do support this - I have tested it in our last beta release. The only time you will not see it enabled is in Private Browsing mode.

To get to it, go to one of your History entries, context click, and you will see it in the context menu.

I've fixed this validation error in trunk in r24365 and I'm working on the Video page validation issues.

Yep, good point. We're working on updating those.

> * titles on top of page don't all match with titles in the page ex: blinding

Good catch. Steven, please change "Blinding Speed" to "Super Speed". I think the customization one is ok b/c it refers to a section header.

> *"We have over 40 different translations" that should be 60
Great - Steven, please make this change too.

> * "See the full list of supported technologies." links to

Agreed.

> * I think the search engine link should be
> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:4/cat:all?sort=name
Let's leave this one the way it is now...that's how it is on the live site and it seems to be working fine.

> * "RSS Feed Reader" should be "Web Feed Reader" whoch I think is the
> terminology we now use as we support both rss and atom formats
I confirmed this with Beltzner - Steven, please update.

> * the page title puts 'Features: Faster, more secure, & customizable', I don't

Agreed!

> * the screenshot for the awesome bar as a drop down list of sites that are

Good catch...we're going to do a more thorough screenshot inventory after b4.

> * "Fasten your seatbelt: Firefox 3.1 includes the TraceMonkey" should be 3.5
Agreed.

> * "Web applications like email, photo sites, online word processors and more
> will load much more rapidly." This is actually wrong, the web sites won't load
> faster (or marginally), the interaction with these web sites once loaded will

Good catch. Steven, please change text to "Web applications like email, photo sites, online word processors and more will feel snappier and more responsive."

> * the "forget this site" described feature looks cool but actually I don't
> think we support this feature ;)
We do (per comment #18), so no changes here.

Pascal, thanks for your help here. Steven, let me know if you have any questions about the specific changes.
I noticed that the Parental Control section seems to be missing some text:

Parental Controls

Enforce parental control settings you’ve entered on Vista with—stop unwanted downloads and more.

After "with" it seems as if there a chunk of words missing.

Also, regarding Offline Browsing, I don't think that there are many sites that will work with this feature, so you may want to reconsider having a link to sites. Currently our QA test cases don't even have any live sites that we can test offline browsing with.
Great catches, thanks Marcia. Details below-

> I noticed that the Parental Control section seems to be missing some text:

Yep, that's definitely a typo. Let's change this section to read "Enforce parental control settings you’ve entered on Vista—stop unwanted downloads and more."

In that case, let's remove the last sentence in this blurb ("Learn more about which sites work with this feature.")

Thanks!

We're still finalizing the actual video play-back code, so it might make sense to stall on the QA for this page for a bit until we have that locked down. I'll update here when we're ready.

Sorry, wrong but - the Firefox Features page is fine - the actual video pages aren't ready for QA yet.
Text updates from comments #20, #21, and #22 are done in trunk in r24451.
Under "Performance,":

"Memory Management

With new management function in place, Firefox keeps memory usage under control."

That should probably be "With a new management..."

Yes, good catch. Thanks!
Memory management typo fixed in trunk in r24533.

Ok, this page is ready for QA again...thanks for your patience.

Changes include all the copy updates referred to in this bug thread, new icons that don't reference Firefox 3 (per comment #15) and working video links.

Known issue: the performance chart is using b2 numbers, and will have to be updated when we have more accurate info. Otherwise, this is pretty solid.
I own the Session Restore feature, and I am a little concerned with this verbiage - "If you’re in the middle of typing an email, you’ll pick up where you left off, even down to the last word you typed." With all the various webmail providers out there, are we sure we can back up that claim?

For Private Browsing, perhaps we should mention the availability of the always on feature?

Good point. But, that's the text we've been using on the current live page since last June and I haven't heard about any major issues...I think we're ok to leave it as is.

> For Private Browsing, perhaps we should mention the availability of the always

Let's change the last part to:
"You can slip in and out of private browsing mode quickly, so it's easy to return to what you were doing before as if nothing ever happened (you can also browse privately all the time)."

Steven, one more nit:
- in the sidebar about new web technologies in the "Cutting Edge" section, please change "SVG Animation" to "SVG Filters" (per Beltzner).

Thanks!
The issues from comment #31 are addressed in r24793.
Resizing window breaks the footer-

Krupa, I think this of all pages on the site, and is a side-effect of the CSS layout. I'm not sure off the top of my head if it's fixable or not, but perhaps you could file a separate bug for it as it's not directly associated with this page.

Also, I'm not sure we should be using an external commercial service (Jing/screencast.com) to store screenshots. If the service changes or the company disappears we'll be losing out on the archived screenshots on the bug history (not a big deal for more screenshots when viewed on their own, but it's always nice to have the archive for that one time you need it).

I presume Jing/screencast.com makes it easier to capture/post screenshots. If so, maybe we could look at improving Bugzilla to make it easier to get screeshots in.
Steven,

About the CSS layout issue,I will file a separate bug.

I see the validity of your concern. Going forward, I will save all my screenshots locally and attach it to the bug reports.

I see a JS error on features page in IE8.Making a note of it -

I don't see the previously mentioned JS error anymore, but I am seeing this new JS error-

Krupa, I'm not seeing the error from comment #37 either - is it still happening?
Hey guys. Sorry about the late-breaking change here, but I'd like to add two blurbs to this page. Both should be in the Cutting Edge section, and both should have the 'new' badge next to them. Steven, let me know if you want to discuss layout issues or anything like that.

[new] Location-Aware Browsing
Now Firefox can tell websites where you’re located so you can find info that’s more relevant and more useful (for example, getting directions or finding restaurants near you). It's all optional - Firefox doesn't share your location without your permission - and is done with the utmost respect for your privacy.

[new] Open Video and Audio
Introducing the future of online media! Firefox is the first browser to support open video and audio formats, allowing practically limitless new ways for sites to display rich content. The open formats also allow modern web pages to display media without requiring a plug-in or a proprietary software download.

QA - once these are added is there anything else holding this page back? It looks like we never resolved the possible issue from comments #35-38.
I don't see any JS errors, no; apart from content, I think it's ready to go.
The text additions from comment #39 have been added. John, I made some minor layout adjustments to accommodate the new elements. Let me know if there are any issues, but I think it works well.

Committed in r25697.
Looks great, thanks Steven! We'll need to go back and add some screenshots and an updated performance chart after RC1, but can do that in a new bug.

Steven, one really small change here:

We need to remove "ECMA Script 4" from the new technologies sidebar in the Cutting Edge section. Once you do that we can close this bug again.

Thanks!

I just noticed that the screenshot used in the UI next to Password Manager is not an accurate reflection of the way it appears in 3.5 using the Mac. The info bar in 3.5 is shaded grey, not light blue. Will this screenshot be updated?

Good observation. Actually, Faaborg is going to do a pass at updating screenshots on this and other relevant pages after RC1. So, don't worry too much about anything outdated on the current version...it'll be fixed for launch.
