Alternatively, spell-check text inputs?
I had layout.spellcheckDefault set to 2 and forgot that wasn't the default (see bug 341723).

<input spellcheck="true"> works just fine and there is no clear way how autocomplete drop-down can work with spellchecking individual words when it applies to the whole input.
