Similar to bug 45358, on my system Mozilla often (20%) hangs on bootup without
actually crashing. The logo is displayed onscreen, but nothing is happening.

Upon using task manager to kill the task, subsequent restarts of Mozilla popup
the mozilla logo and instantly close without hanging or leaving the logo
onscreen. (lock file ?)

this seems to have been fixed in M18 builds...reccomend resolving to WFM as soon
as a bit more testing has been done.

Reporter can you try new nightly?

If that doesn't work for you, can you try deleting all moz files manually before 
installing. Mozilla directory and /winnt/mozregistry.dat /winnt/mozver.dat
