Details
Use the back/forward buttons to navigate to the page in the URL, and you'll see the domain indicator flash. Janky.

It would always flash blue, it was just more subtle. Same thing happens on EV sites that are serving mixed content. Also, not to defend it, because it's terrible UI for surfacing this, but it's the only thing that attracts attention to the "hey, this is SSL, but not really" situation. Until I re-enabled this a few weeks back, I'd stopped noticing when SSL was broken (mostly on sites I don't care about, but still)
