Details
Ran build 2000080508-M18, switched theme to classic. Surfed happily for an hour
without crashing.
Came back next day, fired up Mozilla, same machine, same build. Theme Mozilla
launched was half-classic, half modern. Modern color scheme, but with classic
buttons -- just the reload and stop buttons -- at the top. At the bottom left
corner, the small navigator, mail, composer, and address book icons were there.
Restarting with rebuilding desktop did nothing to change this. Tried it twice,
tried switching in preferences, preferences were dead. The preference dialog
box would open and close okay, but I could not change any values in the
preference window.
iMac DV, Mac OS 9.0.4, MRJ 2.2, carbon libs 1.0.4.
Have a lovely day.

Oh, yes, two other things I forgot to mention.
The progress bar in the lower left corner runs in parallel. The progress bar
window is the size of the modern theme, but two parallel classic progress bars
spool as one surfs.
The other thing is the throbber is from the classic theme.

Tried this again yesterday.
Trashed Mozilla prefs and profile, relaunched Mozilla through profile manager.
Mozilla switched to classic theme, I surfed happily.
Fire up machine tonight, launch Mozilla through profile manager. The same thing
happened as in my first post. Same machine, same build, program does just what
it feels like doing (in this regard).
Leave this open for a week or so, and I'll test it with a later build. Owing to
my schedule, though, I probably won't get to mess with it until this weekend or
thereabouts.

Mac OS build 200081208 seems to work for me, right out of the box. I'm figuring
this could have been an anomoly of 2000080508-M18.
Changing status to WORKSFORME, hopefully this won't pop up again.
