Since late last week I've been having issues connecting to https moz sites (bugzilla, wiki.m.o) from home. The fix is to connect to Mozilla-MV. I'm not sure if other people are seeing this.
What ISP do you use? I'm on Charter Communications and I've had sporadic cases where they were blocking outbound traffic to pop3 and imap servers in the last week, sounds potentially similar. Are you using "redirect-gateway" in your VPN config? If you're not, then connecting to the VPN shouldn't fix it, since these sites are all outside the firewall, and wouldn't be routed through the VPN even if you're connected. We also periodically block people on the netscaler that make too many simultaneous requests to sites like Bugzilla in order to keep the site operational. Send me your IP address (privately if you don't want it on the bug - find me on IRC is easiest) and I can check if you got blocked.
Comcast. I certainly don't put it past them to be actively blocking/throttling or just have networking issues in general. I was using https and imaps on non-moz sites without anywhere near as many issues all weekend, however. I'm wondering if this is possibly a DNS issue or what. I'm in the office currently, so I can't test as easily.
Aki did give me his IP on IRC, and he's not blocked on the netscaler.
Aki, any luck at home tonight?
yup, thanks.
