We've discussed having information on the registration page about why a user should create an account and have decided adding a sidebar to the registration page is the way to go. I have copy written if we were going to link to a "learn more" page (will follow) but I really need to know what sort of space I'll be working in to try and pare it down to look good, be informative but still be readable. Here's the longer text for context: We need your help! Firefox wouldn’t be where it is today without the dedication and support of its fans who helped spread the word about choice on the internet. Our work isn’t over though and we need people from all over the world with all types of skills and talents to help spread Firefox even further! * Getting started can be as simple as telling your friends * Spend as little or as much time as you like * Be a part of our global community of Firefox fans like you Even the smallest contribution can have a huge impact and it all starts with signing up for an account! For more details see our FAQ
Adding milestone. I don't mind tackling this myself but I'm not sure where the sidebars are managed.
Target Milestone: --- → 3.0
@ Lucy sidebar block has been added
Jamey - thanks! it actually looks better than I thought it would. Where do I go to make any changes to it?
At this time you can not change it I am working on getting some sidebar themes to fix the document format
Severity: normal → blocker
I meant beyond themes. Where do I go to change the text?

jamey - we'd like to use the style you created for the "we need your help" box that you're testing on https://spreadfirefox.authstage.mozilla.com/og can you set that for me and then I'll tweak the content?
OK Lucy I updated it some the how 2 on the user/register "block's" I named it More Information Registration can be found in the admin blocks admin/build/block/configure/block/28 the css on stage is NOT 100% complete just a fyi it why when I made mine in groups I posted demo only will remove the blocks are css and php can be a bit tricky but simple good luck if you need help just ask ;) or if you want to tweak the content ill post it for you

How about this first Lucy are you able to login and edit a block
@ Lucy can you see the css here is not done ? https://spreadfirefox.authstage.mozilla.com/news_events
Attached image Proposed changes
I've made some changes to the text and formatting using Firebug, wanted some feedback before committing. -There are some other tweaks I'd like to make that rely on css, like in the points list I'm currently using bold but it would be nice to make those words a color. - would like "..starts with creating an account" to be the same color and maybe same font as the title (can't use <h3> as it adds an image underneath) - Probably good to up the font size a notch
Attaching the markup for creating the proposed changes so I don't lose them when I close firebug.

fwiw, a few days back I glanced at this page and saw this block themed with a simple border and background color. I thought it looked great that way, as it fit with the content on the rest of the page, and it was easier to read than what we have now. Just my 2 cents. Otherwise, this is looking good. Can we resolved this today? Do you need anything from me CSS-wise? Thanks Lucy!
@ Lucy I made the sidebar blocks ill reload then and send you the names if you want to edit ?
Ok, I'll update the text as reflected here. Jamey, yes if you could let me know the names of the different styles that'd be great. Alex - I didn't see it myself. I like how the background fits in with the rest of the design but of course I can't say which I like better. Could you or jamey replicate and get a screenshot?
Lucy or Alex are you all set on this of do you want me to make any more sidebars ?
I think this is looking good. I have one suggestion. I think the discussions style background you have makes the text a little hard to read, because it changes the font size/style. I tried mocking this up using the note background. What do you think? http://people.mozilla.com/~abuchanan/note-registration.png
Looks great. Shouldn't Internet be capitalized? "spreading the word about choice on the internet"
(In reply to comment #19) > Looks great. > Shouldn't Internet be capitalized? > "spreading the word about choice on the internet" Thanks Ken, I've changed this. Lucy, this is looking good. Can we call this resolved?
https://spreadfirefox.authstage.mozilla.com/user/register I've moved it to the .note background, per discussions in IRC. Basically, this is what works for now, if we feel the page needs a visual upgrade, we can revisit in the future. I think this is fixed, please reopen if I'm dumb :P Thanks everyone!!
