User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.7) Gecko/2009030422 Ubuntu/8.10 (intrepid) Firefox/3.0.7
Build Identifier:

Ctrl + Left click is generally used to select multiple messages selectively.
But in current Trunk version of Tb ( Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1b4pre) Gecko/20090310 Shredder/3.0b3pre ) Ctrl + Left click on any message will open it in new tab.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select a Message in Message list pane.
2. Hold Ctrl Key in keyboard and Left click on another message.

Actual Results:
2nd Message is opened in a new Tab.

Expected Results:
Both message will be selected.
No message will be opened in new tab.

The best keyboard short-cut to open a message in Tab should be 'Ctrl + K' as suggested in Bug 458069. Currently there is no way to select multiple messages selectively.
I actually meant 'Ctrl + T'
Version: unspecified → Trunk
Confirming this in Windows

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b4pre) Gecko/20090310 Shredder/3.0b3pre

This is definitely a problem as control + left click is completely standard for multiple selections.
What're you all doing on such stale nightlies? ;)

Fixed by backout of bug 479825 later the same day, so this was only in 20090310, the nightly from two days ago.
