Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.0.7) Gecko/2009021910 Firefox/3.0.7 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.19 (20081209) In one of my mailboxes (a subcategory of Inbox I created long ago and have been using successfully) I am getting normal listings of incoming mail. However, when I attempt to open some specific emails in that box, content from an entirely different email appears. Sender, recipient, and content all differ from what appears in the Message Summary window. The problem is intermittent but appeared this morning on several emails. I will attempt to insert a PrtSch image of one example. The mail shows as being from Sheila Ward, but the content is from Booking Buddy. (I had deleted the mail but am highlighting it from "Trash" for your benefit.) Won't attach. You can email me and I will send you the image in a Word document. Reproducible: Didn't try Software should display correct content for incoming messages listed in Message Summary. It usually does but some messages are wrong. Also... I have been deleted mailboxes which are no longer relevant. Thunderbird has crashed several times as I was doing this. I tried deleting all mailboxes into Trash (crash); I tried deleting half the mail into Trash (crash); then had to delete portions at a time, which worked. This problem has worsened since I did that but the problem did exist before. I have done cold reboots in the meantime, and I normally move content out if IN and TRASH frequently.
Jeff, for the crash can you get talkback id? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Talkback#Getting_an_incident_ID
Hi Wayne, FYI, there have been many "hangs" (where the system had to be powered off to recover) than crashes...probably a dozen such hangs. There have also been crashes and here are the IDs: TB53438862M, TB53043345X, TB53007953H, TB52999149Z. The first of these was the most recent. N. B., the "Wrong Data Displayed" may or may not have been the cause of the hangs / crashes. The "wrong data" problem has been significant for several days, but I've had more than a dozen hangs necessitating power off / reboot over the last couple of weeks. Holler if you need more.
What extensions, firewall and virus checking software do you run? Hi. 1. Extensions: To my knowledge, Talkback is it. Have not installed others. However there is a second directory under Extensions with this name: {972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd} under which there is an install.rdf file. I have also recently deleted a lot of file directory names which were obsolete AND garbage, like e6duut (format example, not actual). Not sure why they had those names. 2. Firewall: I use the McAfee suite that comes from Comcast, so it is their firewall, not the Windows firewall. 3. Virus: Ditto McAfee as above.
The same thing happens to me on MAC Leopard using Thunderbird version 2.0.0.21 (20090302). I'm not using AV software, the extensions are {0D2172E4-C5AE-465A-B80D-53A840275B5E} ThunderBrowse@thunderbrowse.com {61A64500-335C-418D-8FCB-E072A9ABF3DA} {8845e3b3-e8fb-40e2-95e9-ec40294818c4} {a62ef8ec-5fdc-40c2-873c-223b8a6925cc} {ad7d8a66-253b-11dc-977c-000c29a3126e} {e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103} attachmentreminder@sourceforge.net es-AR@dictionaries.addons.mozilla.org es-es@dictionaries.addons.mozilla.org lookout@aron.rubin pt-BR@dellalibera.sf.net pt-BR@dictionaries.addons.mozilla.org pt-PT@dictionaries.addons.mozilla.org seek@simile.mit.edu Configured with IMAP and using search folders to organize email. Some days I can't work because the wrong message shows up in the reading pane. I have to switch to a different search folder, then back to the one I want and reopen the message, wait .... a looooong time... and then the right messages does open. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Problem has not recurred here since I last wrote about it. Nothing else on my system has changed.
I wonder if the "wrong data" part of this bug is the same as bug 474725.
Possibly, but in my case the rest (body) of the missing messages never became visible.
It is indeed similar to but 474725, but some times the body never shows, or the header updates but the body remains one from a previous message
(In reply to comment #9) > or the header updates but the body remains one from a previous message Bug 474725 is exactly that. Having the body never show is probably different from that, however.
seems reasonable to dup and work through remaining issues via 474725, using version 3
