Thunderbird 3 Beta 2 Release Notes for the autoupdate
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #477097 +++ Any bugs that should be referenced on the release notes have the *relnote* keyword. Real note should contain a note about the the pop+archive bug 480556
In some case pop3 account users will crash on startup. The issue as been fixed in nightly builds and will be picked up in the next beta release.
Bryan can you make this happen - we would also like a blog post about the fact that older users can update. We thought that you could also blog as you are Release driver for beta2

Updates are not visible to regular users yet, we'll need to coordinate and pull the trigger for them to start showing up. I suggest once we are getting close to ready with the updated release notes that we pick a time to enable the updates and blog about it ahead of time, i.e. "At nn:00 PDT this evening, updates will start to be picked up by our Alpha/Beta users, and in the following 24-48 hours, you should be offered the update. Alternatively, you can pick it quicker by selecting "Check for updates..." after nn:00 PDT"
yep, i'll start writing a post and we can coordinate when to publish and start the updates

What time do you want to set this update for? I defaulted to 7:00pm (19:00 PDT) I have a post ready, assuming it's for today, the link should come out to being this: http://clarkbw.net/blog/2009/03/16/thunderbird-3-beta-2/

AFAIK, the releases notes are not updated yet, so this is pretty much blocking on releasing the updates.
Since it looks like the intent was just to add this POP3 note: <li>In some cases, users with a POP3 account may experience a crash on startup. The issue has been fixed in Shredder nighly builds and will be fixed in the next beta release. (<a href="https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480556">Bug 480556</a>)</li> I've taken the liberty of regenerating the patch with just that change, easier to review, and doesn't include some other apparently unrelated changes.

Committed revision 23563. It's up on trunk and staging. Please review/approve OK for production.
Go ahead and push live. Looks good.
Ok, what's our schedule plan for turning on the updates? Tomorrow? What time? 12pm PDT?
Pushed live. 12pm PDT works for me. Let's make it so.
