using insertBookmark with a uri of:
place:folder=FOLDERID&expandQueries=0&queryType=1
creates a type=9 folder shortcut item. then, using Properties, a rename is not effected in the tree, but instead takes effect only on a reload of the tree or tree.place=tree.place type action. the item in the database is renamed fine. is there not an observer on type=9?

my tree is using inline rename, which also doesn't work in the same way ie just for type=9, but since inline rename isn't implemented in places that's a bit OT to Bug 85200 and Bug 402328.

also related is Bug 409055, but note i don't have excludeItems.
Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
