From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; m17) Gecko/20000808
BuildID:
At Popstation, Mozilla doesn't automatically detect and switch to big5 mode, and
when manually switched, hangs. Other big5 sites work fine. If Popstation is the
first big5 site I visit, it's displayed in normal text. If I visit another
working big5 site first to get the big5 encoding thing cached, then visit
Popstation, mozilla also hangs.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Visit www.popstation.com
2.View > Character coding > multibyte > big5
3.
Actual Results: Hang.
Expected Results: Displayed the site in chinese.

What was your setting for auto-detection?
I tried with auto-detection off but did not hang (used PR2).

Tested again with win32 M18 build 2000081105 but still cannot reproduce.
I tried Auto-detectin off and set manually to Big5 but did not hang.
Then I set to Traditional Chinese Auto detection and the page was detected as
Big5.
Resolve as WORKSFORME, please reopen if you see this again. Also attach the HTML
file (I saw the page was updated and was different from yesterday).

Using build 2000-09-15-08 does not cause a hang anymore, but I still can't get
it to display big5 text at www.popstation.com. Popstation is still not detected
as big5, and when I switch it manually, it is still displayed as if using
Western encoding. I notice I am redirected to this page:
http://fs.dai.net/ac/206219/N01.html?http://www.popstation.com
maybe that is confusing something?

andy- do you have a Chinese in your system ?

andyc@uvic.ca - are you still seeing this problem with recent builds of Mozilla?
(Maybe the Chinese has escaped from your system ;-)
Gerv
It still doesn't detect and switch to big5. However, it no longer hangs when I
switch it manually but it still doesn't display chinese characters. The latest
build I tried this with was 2000101908.
ftang - what do you mean do I have a Chinese in my system? I am using english
Windows 98SE. This build of mozilla does work with other big5 sites.

I tested this in 2000-10-20-08MN6 build on Winnt4.0J and Win 98J.
Even though I changed the character coding menu to Traditional Chinese (big5),
Chinese characters are not displayed correctly.

Reassign to ftang.
Changed the summary because currently it does not hang.

What is your "auto-detect" setting ? Chinese, East Asian, or All ?
When I tried with Chinese and All and visit http://www.popstation.com I got no
problem.
Mark this as FIXED for now. Reopen if this is still a problem.
