Your auto software update really **** me off this time.
You wiped out my emails, and all my account information
Thank God, yes the 'G' Word, my address book was not affected or I would've gone back to Microsoft after 8 years of using Firefox.
Reproducible: Didn't try

Reporter have you try with Thunderbird -p on cmd for verify if you use an empty profile and not the right profile?
It seems a wrong reference of profile folder for me.
You have an antivirus? See you anything in quarantine?

If prefs.js is deleted or corrupted, such phenomenon can occur.
Read next two bugs.
> Bug 392956 Thunderbird occasionally forgets about profile and runs new account wizard for default profile
> Bug 422447 sometimes seamonkey starts with an empty profile for no reason
See also bugs listed in Dependency Tree for meta Bug 193638.
What happened on you? prefs.js was deleted or corrupted?
Do you have back up of prefs.js when you encountered your problem?
