I was checking out Josh's plugins proposal on the wiki and it links to a few plugin-futures posts which I can't read (thankfully, Josh summarized, but that's not the point of this bug).
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Plugins:AdvancedKeyHandling
While I understand the list being moderated, with only members allowed to post, it'd be nice if I could read the archives of the list. Josh didn't know why they were closed, so I thought I'd file this bug.
Also, CCing smfr since he might have some context as to why the archives are closed.
Please do not make changes to the mailing list setup until JST and I OK it. We'll have to discuss. Thanks.

I'd be careful; people may have revealed NDA'd information on the list that is not suitable for public consumption. You should notify the list itself before opening up the archives.

This isn't an IT bug. List owners can make this change themselves.

Move it out of the queue into a different component, then, please, rather than closing it. It's still a valid problem until a decision is made otherwise.

I'm not sure why this needs a bug at all. Take it up with the list owners or on the list itself. Bugzilla doesn't seem appropriate for this.

I took it up with the list owners and figured a bug would be good to document it. I can't take it up on the list because I'm not on it. Hence comment 0. I don't see any reason for this not to be in Bugzilla. If comment 2 is right, however, then this could be marked WONTFIX. I'll let Josh and Johnny decide that.
I'd appreciate it if we could use this bug to document this discussion/decision. I'll comment again when I've talked to some people.
After some thought/discussion, we will not be opening up past archives. It is simply not worth the effort to get current and past members to sign off. All messages were sent with the understanding that the archives were private and we need to respect that.
However, I am open to making the list public in the future. I'll need to discuss this with list members, also, technically I don't think we can make an archive public past a certain date so we might have to start a new mailing list.

Thanks Josh. I'm going to mark this as WONTFIX per your comment.
For the future, might it be worth using a newsgroup/mailing list like we do for other discussions? Something like mozilla.dev.plugins (maybe something already exists?).
