After performing a search at http://pilot.familysearch.org, Firefox memory use climbs continuously.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
start Windows Task Manager and/or Resource Monitor
start Firefox
Go to http://pilot.familysearch.org
enter a common american name in the name fields (eg. George Washington)
click search
switch to Windows Task Manager or Resource Monitor
watch Firefox memory use climb

Actual Results:
Memory use climbs indefinitely.

Expected Results:
Stable memory use when viewing a static page.

Problem observed in both of these environments:
Windows Vista Ultimate SP 1
Firefox 3.1 Beta 3
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r22

Windows XP SP 3
Firefox 3.0.7
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r22
Confirmed on Windows XP (increasing memory usage). It is not a recent problem; I see it also with an old version like Firefox 1.

Can you test this with another browser that is using npapi like Opera, safari ?
I tested with Opera 9.64 on Vista Ultimate, and could not reproduce the problem.
Confirmed on Vista 64 Ultimate.. Fix Please
This bug has been observed and confirmed by 3 people. Would someone with the right Bugzilla privs change the status to NEW please?
Leak Monitor doesn't report a leak, so it is not likely that it is a leak.
What we need to be able to set this kind of bugs to NEW, is a testcase.

Summary: memory leak using flash → Continuously increasing memory using flash
Tomcat: can you verify this leak?

I suspect it has to do with Core:Plugins as there's a big ol' SWF on there.

Sorry I meant Leak Gauge, a very old thing I still had.
Not blocking 1.9.1 on this. Please renominate if more data becomes available here that shows it's a problem on our end.

the big ol' flash eats an initial 40meg (which seems a lot). but that's not what this bug is about afaict.

? I can't reproduce. and indefinitely doesn't sound right at all
