I built from source, so I can't get a stacktrace. The crash still occurs in safe mode. It does not occur in Firefox 3.1b3 in Windows. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-GB; rv:1.9.1b3) Gecko/20090305 Firefox/3.1b3 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)

Though now I've restarted the browser I can't get it to crash again.
Kevin: Which JRE version are you using ? I'm surprised that you still seem to have the old Oji plugin instead of the NPAPI one on Linux.
Ubuntu 8.10, sun-java6-bin, sun-java6-jdk, sun-java6-jre, sun-java6-plugin all version 6-10ubuntu2. This is a fresh install not upgraded from a previous version of Ubuntu.
kbrosnan: is this a 64bit plug-in?
No using the 32-bit distro.

Kevin Brosnan/Reporter Is this still an issue with the latest Java plugin ?
Component: Plug-ins → Java (Sun)
Product: Core → Plugins
QA Contact: plugins → sun-java
All the reports are from the old oji plugin. It's possible that the new plugin fixed this
Closing old bugs in the Plugins component. We aren't going to track issues in 3rd-party plugins in the Mozilla bug tracker. In addition, support for NPAPI plugins will be removed at the end of this year; for more details see the post at https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2015/10/08/npapi-plugins-in-firefox/ If there is a serious bug in Firefox, it needs to be filed in the "Core" product, "Plug-Ins" component.
