Tab switching speeds when switching through tabs, compared to other browsers... firefox has a noticeable lagging delay in switching to the next or prev tabs..

also the [ctrl]/[shift]+[tab] switching feature with the thumbnail previews is a pile of ****.. how do you disable it and get the original behavior back that was 10x better at just allowing you switch the tabs.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open lots of tabs
2.Use mousewheel on tabs (get a decent addon, firefox to rubbish to build this in)
3.Notice **** tab switching speeds when switching through tabs, compared to other browsers firefox has a noticable delay in swtiching to the next/prev tabs..

also ctrl/shift+tab switching feature with the thumbnail previews is a pile of ****.. how do you disable it and get the original behaviour back that was 10x better at just allowing you switch the tabs

RMB+MOUSEWHEEL

Why can't this feature also allow switching of the running tabs in the background(NOT just a current tab history view) while still maintaining the tab list context menu in view.... it would be 10x better than it is now, where you can RMB+Mousewheel, select a tab, let go.. oh wasn't the one I was looking for.. repeat... when if I had just been able to quickly go through the them interactively with the tab list staying in focus, but still allowing me to use the mousewheel to change the tab.. would be awesome(like how maxthon2 used to have it, actually they had a lot of great features still not seen or bettered anywhere else(dual screen tabs) but they've lost the plot now).
making a new profile and just using tabmix plus for the mousewheel switching is still slow.. ff just seems to have really horrendous tab switching speeds.. I had 60tabs open.. and just as a comparison I used maxthon 1.x with the ie8 engine in standards mode.. 60 of the exact same tabs open... switching through the entire lot in both browsers its instantly noticable how much slower Firefox is at switching to each new tab... Its bad!!.. and obliviously isn't so much an addon problem or my system spec.. my Maxthon 1x itself has a lot of plugins and built in features enabled.. compared to a new FF 3.0.8 profile with just 1x addon(tabmix plus) something needs sorting out..

by the way testing maxthon with [ctrl]+[left]/[right] to switch through tabs is Super fast! I could about guess and say from the first tab to the last 60th tab it had gone through and shown each one.. while firefox was probably still only halfway through the tab list.. and i did do this multiple times to make sure everything was cached in memory... also there doesn't seem to be any way of doing the same keyboard switching Firefox anyomre as you get that **** noob looking thumbnail feature which is **** even switching through tabs thumbs on that with [ctrl]/[shift]+[tab] is SLOW.... something is wrong tab management... I'm sure if there was browsing benchmark testing this Firefox would Fail at the bottom of the list.
oh yeah I should also say sometimes Firefox is just so lame it will just skip some tabs instead of displaying them at all.. i mean common that is **** poor.
I'm getting this problem aswel: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=1166065 highly annoying.. mousewheeling through tabs and then coming to a tab with some flash object init.. and the tab mousewheeling won't scroll to either the next or previous tab because of some bug!
Firefox 3.0.8 doesn't show a preview when switching abs with ctrl-tab ! There have been experiments with in early alpha versions of Firefox 3.1, but it's not in the current Firefox 3.5 beta 3.

This is an INVALID bug for the speed issue. That you prefer to use the extension is another thing.
WFM and others with no problems. Complain to the add-ons authors about the slow down when using their extensions as this is their fault and no Firefox's.

"This is an INVALID bug for the speed issue. That you prefer to use the

I call BS.. Are you saying Firefox most popular addon TabMix Plus.. is the root cause of Firefox being **** slow in tab switching performance? beacuse even if I didn't use that 1 extension and tested FF tab switching performance on a clean install I'd still find this **** lagging behind IE engine+ maxthon tab switching speeds!

"This is an INVALID bug for the speed issue. That you prefer to use the
extension is another thing." What kind of dumb ass uses Firefox without blody extensions!!!! This browser is **** without extensions!!!

And 1 extension used mainly just for the mousewheel tab functionality and firefox is too flipping slow to switch tabs... I shall repeat this:

"making a new profile and just using tabmix plus for the mousewheel switching is
still slow.. ff just seems to have really horrendous tab switching speeds.. I
had 60tabs open.. and just as a comparison I used maxthon 1.x with the ie8

"

its good a thing these things are tested because quite frankly firefox has some terrible speed issues in handling many tabs and loading tabs.. heck even the firegesture addon that draws a gesture line can be seen to work like **** in firefox.. comparred to Maxthon2 with not onyl Vastly faster and smoother gesture drawing but also Anti-aliased lines.. And you guys blame everything on extensions? pfff
UNRESOLVED>. we seem to have noobs testing these issues!

We test the browser without extensions, otherwise you can't know is the bug or the performance issue is due to the browser or to the extension itself. In this case, it's plenty fast enough for most people. And I repeat: Firefox does NOT show you previews, so don't complain about that.

Note that you never mentioned that you've tested tab switching speeds without TabMix Plus - comment 3 claims the opposite !

Comparing with another browser doesn't make any sense at all, unless you can provide input why that is. And potentially provide a solution for it. Bugzilla is not a support forum, it's mainly for developers.

Oh .. and TabMix Plus isn't the most popular extension - it's number 21.

Forget comment 3.. I have tested it without any extensions and it still ****!
