Please create a "productization" keyword with the following description:

"Bugs related to productization of Mozilla software (default third party web services providers, links to third party links on Mozilla web properties)"
i'm reluctant to do this. i'd request at least a url and preferably some indication of a group responsible for such a project, otherwise it'll be overused by random people.

i hate removing 'access' keywords from bugs.
The keyword would be used mainly by the l10n drivers team to denote bugs related to productization of our localized builds (i.e. changes to region.properties and searchengines/). Any changes to these files require review by the l10n team, so with this keyword it would be easy to search for these bugs. Examples: request to change the RSS feed url for sv-SE, search plugins setup for a new locale, implementation of the Yandex deal in ru. Add E.SUN bank link to the zh-TW web parts.

Other use would be to add this keyword to bugs regarding default productization in en-US, so that the l10n drivers can be up-to-date on what's going to be shipped in en-US and be ready to port the changes to other locales in a timely manner. Examples: Add the Mibbit handler to en-US. Add the Hotmail handler to en-US. Change links on the Getting Started page. Implement site-specific search.

Ideally, this keyword would be added wherever a third party service provider is involved in the bug.

It would make l10n drivers' lives (esp. mine) a lot easier :)
With 70+ localizations to manage (and growing), Stas is finding ways to make our process sustainable and manageable. We have a number of bugs assigned to the l10n-drivers team and to individuals responsible for "productizing" their localizations. This will help with our team and community's work efficiency.

In addition to what Stas has mentioned above, each time a new locale starts, they have the following bugs to close:

*  Search engine setup
*  protocol handler setup
*  RSS reader setup
*  The "Getting Started" page
*  RSS Sample feed

Each of these needs to be closed out before becoming an official translation of Firefox. You can imagine that with all the locales "in the pipeline" and in beta status, several bugs can accidentally slip because they didn't show up in query results.

It would be beneficial to have a keyword to find all bugs where l10n-drivers needs reminders on where to focus or to poke our localizers for help.

Please approve.

i'll offer l10n-productization or l10n-3rdparty or something.
I would still like to ask for "productization". Productization is not only l10n-related, it can very well regard en-US too (example: bug 482229). I think prefixing the keyword with "l10n-" might limit the use of this keyword, whereas the intention here is to have it used in en-US as well.

Besides, "productization" is already quite long :)
I agree with Stas.

I've had a hard time finding documentation on the process of nominating and approving keyword for Bugzilla. Timeless, can you please send that to me in this bug. I need to have a clear understanding of why you are blocking this request so far.

In addition, the productization keyword will be used by Harvey Anderson and his legal/business development team, which includes Kev Needham and Margaret Tallman. These individuals are not part of the l10n-drivers team and do not work on l10n as their primary role.

There is no such documentation. Such requests are arbitrarily decided by Marcia, timeless, and myself. For the record, timeless isn't blocking this request. He's just offering possible alternatives based on the generalities that the word "productization" puts forth. This is a normal process for a new keyword, as keywords are Bugzilla-wide, so we do our best to ensure that such new keywords will only be used for their intended purpose and not misused for other things, as that only causes confusion down the road.

After the discussion in this bug, I think I'm fine with "productization", but we need a better description to use than what comment #0 (too short) and comment #2 (too long) specify. The description should be short but not too long but that gives a good understanding of what exactly the keyword is for and who are the intended users of such a keyword. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/describekeywords.cgi has some examples of other keyword descriptions if you need to see how other keywords are described.
Very helpful, Reed, and thanks for clarifying Timeless and your needs and requests.

After reviewing the list of existing keywords in Bugzilla, how about this description:

Productization -- For localizations and Mozilla business development initiatives that require external verification and team consensus regarding the inclusion of third party services in Mozilla software. Productization services include search providers in the browser, links to third parties hosted on Mozilla web properties, third party protocol handlers (mailto:, webcal:, irc:, etc.), RSS feeds, and any other items further describing localization and business development of Mozilla software.
The keyword productization has been created.
