Positioning an item using CSS absolute positioning within a context defined
with relative positioning does not work; the item is positioned absolutely
using screen coordinates instead of the context in which it was defined. For
example,
<span style="position:relative">
hello, world.
<span style="position:absolute;top:20px">
20 pixels down
</span>
</span>
The text "20 pixels down" is positioned 20 pixels from the top of the screen,
not from the period in "hello, world."
In addition to this problem, any use of "position:relative" causes the browser
to crash when the page is reloaded.

This is a layout problem: the style information is correct. Also, attaching a
complete testcase...

Summary: absolute positioning within relative positioning doesn't work → absolute positioning within relative positioning doesn't work [ABS POS]
I think this page is working correctly, except that the default "left: auto"
isn't offsetting the abs. pos. element correctly. I've submitted this as bug
53052.
This bug is about what box the abs. pos. element is offset from, the
body (incorrect) or the containing block (the rel. pos. element, correct.)
(spam: changed the summary to use abbreviations so it fits in a bugzilla query
page)
