Build Identifier: 2.0.0.21 (20090302)

When I do double click in shortcut of Thunderbird in quick launch bar, open more than one window of the thunderbird (2 process). With that when it receive email the system corrupt the data file of emails.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Double Click in shortcut of the Thunderbird in quick launch bar
2.Receive email
3.
Actual Results:
Corrupt the data file mail

Expected Results:
Not to create two simultaneous processes
so you are saying that thunderbird is not dying properly and when you launch it again you get an error message that thunderbird is already running ?
From private email :

>I don't receive error message, only that the email folder is being processed.
>If the user he doesn't notice that the thunderbird was opened twice, it can
>cause a crash in data file email.
I've seen this happen with TB or FF. You can probably find a bug I've commented in about it.
Rodrigo, did you get a crash report?

not the same issue, but to get this on the record - just now I didn't create two tasks, but it did open 2 3panes. (one instance, two windows)
Component: General → Startup and Profile System
Product: Thunderbird → Toolkit
QA Contact: general → startup
Summary: Allow more than a simultaneous process. Crash data file mail → Multiple processes/instances of Thunderbird started in same profile. Crash data file mail
Version: unspecified → 1.8 Branch
I don't have the crash report, because this error doesn't create.

I've the a big inbox file, 3GB. When I open 2 simultaneous windows of TB and receive a email, this can crash the data mail file, because I've 2 different process trying write in the same file.

I think that the TB never can open two different windows.
To fix the data mail file, I made a simple program to write in inbox file "X-Mozilla-Status: 0000", and I delete the index (inbox.msf)
Rodrigo, so you know what a talkback crash report is, and the crash isn't triggering talback? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Mozilla_Suite_:_FAQs_:_Talkback#Getting_an_incident_ID

Can you reproduce just as easily with thunderbird 3 beta?
