- go to above url (also happens with any of the weather.com pages, like if you search for weather in "napa" or "san jose") - select some text (not a link, but text) - drag text expected: - start a drag with selected text actual: - nothing happens Odd thing is, this appears to be mac only. The dragGesture is generated, it gets into the onDragStart function in the content area's Dnd observer, but it doesn't find the selection. i added some dumps and it appears that it can't get the domSelection and so it falls in the "else" clause with aEvent.target.localName equal to #text. When the JS sees #text, it thinks it's in a link and bails early if it can't find one, as is the case here. Why this is mac only is beyond me, and text dragging works on other pages, like the mozilla.org homepage.
There is some mac-specific text selection behaviour, controlled by a pref, so perhaps that code is firing.
*SPAM*: Changing the QA contact of all open/resolved Selection bugs from elig@netscape.com to BlakeR1234@aol.com. After the many great years of service Eli has given to Mozilla, it's time for him to move on; he has accepted a position at Eazel. We'll be sad to see him go, and I'll do my best to fill his spot...

Blake -- can you narrow down the page to what is not getting selected and dragged, that would help quite a bit
Whiteboard: [NEED INFO]
Unfortunately, I can't -- I don't have a mac. Asa said he might be able to help out if he gets a chance, or maybe Paul or Patty could do it (changing QA to Paul for now since it's useless for me to be QA on a mac-only bug) Sorry.

I tried 3 or 4 pages described above on www.weather.com and I was able to drag the text content to BBedit. I used build 2000082308.
great news! Will mark this as wfm, one of those mystery fixes

Seeing this bug on 2000082313 OS9. Reopening, adding makingtest keyword. Should have a testcase by next Monday. I was unable to drag the text to bbedit (or anywhere for that matter) Beppe@netscape.com: can you still make this work?

I had a little more time than I thought I would so I made a testcase today! Adding testcase keyword, removing makingtest keyword. This seems to be a problem with the frameset because just viewing the main frame makes the problem go away.

i tried this with a bug from 9/6/00 and it still happens. none of the text on the given url is draggable. what more info do you need? removing [needs info]

I can't open the attached test case from August. I can't reproduce this bug; resolving it as worksforme to see if anyone else can reproduce this problem on a *Macintosh*.
