User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; it; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032608 Firefox/3.0.8 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; it; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032608 Firefox/3.0.8 I've followed instructions for java plugin installation by symbolic linking of java plugin library libjavaplugin_oji.so, and I'm sure I've done it in to the right directory, because it contains a flash player library that is correctly used. The plugin doesn't appear when I write the magic url about:plugins The plugins directory is actually $HOME/.mozilla/plugins Reproducible: Always Actual Results: about:plugins doesn't display java plugin Expected Results: about:plugins display information about java version
The linux distribution is a 32-bit Ubuntu Intrepid, with kernel 2.6.27-11-generic on a dual core processor.
I had the same problem, with a recent nightly (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2a2pre) Gecko/20090827 Namoroka/3.6a2pre) on Debian Linux. Using the new java plugin works. See https://jdk6.dev.java.net/plugin2/ http://www.java.com/en/download/help/new_plugin.xml Maybe Firefox 3.0 no longer supports the "old" Java plugin?
