When I log into Windows MSN web messenger, on the top and bottom of the page I get a notification that there are plug-ins missing. I click "Install now" and after a short search it tells me that it is an "Unknown plugin (text/html)" which has not been found. When I click "Finish", the top notification window closes, but the bottom "Click here to download plugin" is still there. I'm not even sure what the plug-in would do, since everything else seems to function normally. This has happened since I was still using Firefox 2.x, but I couldn't find it here in search. If it is reported, sorry to waste your time.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open http://webmessenger.msn.com/ and log in
2. a pop-up window will occur signing you in
3. when you are signed in, you will see the notifications
I observe the same issue with _numerous_ other web pages. The gray strip appears atop the window with a message that a plugin must be installed in order to display all information on the page. After a click on "Get Plugin" button a message pops up from Plugin Finder Service and says that "No suitable plugin was found," and shows the type: (text/html).

Reporter, please retest with Firefox 3.6.12 or later in a fresh profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). Also update your plugins (flash, adobe reader, java, quicktime, silverlight, etc.) Go to the developer's website and download the latest version from there. If you no longer see this issue, please close this bug as RESOLVED, WORKSFORME. If you do see the bug, please post a comment.
