Attached patch patch v1 — — Splinter Review
It would be nice if the RSS feeds contain changelogs. This patch also adds thumbnails of the add-ons (bug 383056).

Thanks for the code contribution, I'll look at your patches shortly. However, please make sure not to assign bugs to people or mark them ASSIGNED -- the people who are actually picking up the bug are supposed to that themselves (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/page.cgi?id=etiquette.html). Asking for review like you did, however, is of course absolutely fine. Again, thanks for your work on making AMO better!

Comment on attachment 372128 [details] [diff] [review] patch v1 That doesn't quite work well yet: <b>Notice</b>: Undefined index: Thumbnail in <b>amo/site/app/views/addons/rss/addons.thtml</b> on line <b>43</b><br /> <br /> <b>Notice</b>: Undefined index: Translation in <b>amo/site/app/views/addons/rss/addons.thtml</b> on line <b>55</b><br /> There is no field called "thumbnail" for an add-on. On the addons details page, there is some code for determining a URL for the highlighted preview image that may be useful to fix bug 383056. Also, judging from the notice about the release notes field, the version data does not contain that yet -- it would need to be pulled in in the controller before being able to use it here. Hm, have you tested out the patches before submitting? You should do that.
changelogs are available per add-on off the developer hub. ->fixed

(In reply to comment #3) > changelogs are available per add-on off the developer hub. ->fixed I think that solves a different issue, not this bug. The feed URL given for this bug is the latest updates URL feed, which lists all recently updated add-ons with their summary descriptions, and is available to anyone from the front page. The title and summary description alone is ok for new add-ons, but not for updated add-ons. Users who watch the recently updated add-ons feed want a summary that describes what was updated, as appears in the release notes. If the updated add-on is an add-on you've seen and uninstalled before, then if it was just a trivial fix it may not be worth looking at again, but for a bigger change an add-on which was formerly not useful may have become useful. Including the release notes in the updates feed could provide update feed users with this information (when the authors write good release notes). The suggested patch attempts to add the updated add-on's release notes to that feed. (Developer hub feeds are private, only for developers, not for users. They are available for an individual add-on, or all add-ons of that developer, not AMO site-wide. They list individual changes to the add-on site, such as the date and name of a field that was edited, not a description of a change to the addon, and not the actual text of descriptive text changes. So they are not suitable for users who want to keep up with the latest useful add-on updates.)

Thanks for filing this. In an effort to not drown in existing reports we're aggressively closing old enhancements and bugs to get the buglist to a reasonable level so we can scope and process bug sprints in an effective manner. Patches for this bug are still welcome.
