User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en; rv:1.8.1.21) Gecko/20090327 Camino/1.6.7 (like Firefox/2.0.0.21pre) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en; rv:1.8.1.21) Gecko/20090327 Camino/1.6.7 (like Firefox/2.0.0.21pre) Pop-ups are blocked in preferences and denied from websites requesting, but they still appear (and slow down Camino). This issue did not happen in version prior to 1.6.7, and it does not happen in Safari or Firefox. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Block pop-ups (or web advertising in Caminospeak) 2 Open web page (and generally hyper-link) - deny requests for pop-ups (nice feature, thanks - I wish it would work), ultimately Camino hangs or crashes. 3. Close page(s) to discover many pop-ups behind. Actual Results: From above step 3, pop-ups blocked, yet they still appear, causing Camino to hang and often crash. Expected Results: Blocked the pop-ups that insistently appear in spite of proper preference settings and web-page ad/pop-up request denials - thus no hangs or crashes That's it. As an aside, I love the Camino browser (I'm a Famino!), works awesome on all of my Macs - thank you.
Unless you can tell us specifically *where* this is happening, there's not likely to be much we can do about it.
It happens every time I hyper-link meta-search. As I am opening several pages I cannot pinpoint the actual originator of the pop-up ad. How may I ascertain specifically 'where' this is happening?

Sorry for the double-post.
(In reply to comment #3) > It happens every time I hyper-link meta-search. What does that mean? We need *specific* steps to follow, including URLs and search strings that you're using. cl
I will replicate yesterday's research. Do you want me to report every URL I go to? (this, I assume is the search string?)
It will be a long list.
Most important would be the site you're using as a search engine.
When I use a search engine I generally (more specifically 99% of the time) begin with Google. Of note: subsequent pages that I open are generally not sourced from Google.
- and use bookmarked pages frequently, such as http://thesaurus.reference.com/.
Well, we know Google isn't the source of the popups, so the only thing left to do at this point is to go through the URLs from yesterday's history and see if you can re-trigger any of the popups. If you can, report the URL here.
Will do ...

I'll now open them simultanously, as most were yesterday, and see if I get pop-ups.
We don't need to know every site you ever visit. We just need the page you were on when the popup opened.
Referring back to original Steps to Reproduce: 3. Close page(s) to discover many pop-ups behind. 'Behind' being the critical problem, they are actually pop-backs, hidden behind all pages, so I am unable to cite the page that popped. When I opened each page individually no pop-ups (or pop-backs) occurred. It's only when I have, say, 20 pages simultaneously opened.
Also, sorry that I misunderstood and sent you every link.
Actually, this site http://worldcat.org/identities/lccn-n81-15312 may be a bit wonky - if opened several other pages it seems to cause Camino to hang. I wasn't able to replicate the pop-ups, so it may not be the source. It's a beta page.
(In reply to comment #16) > When I opened each page individually no pop-ups (or pop-backs) occurred. It's > only when I have, say, 20 pages simultaneously opened. How many different pages you open doesn't have any effect. A given popup is opened by a specific page, regardless of how many other pages you may have open in other tabs. What is almost certainly happening is that some site you are visiting opens popups when you click on links or otherwise interact with the page. We don't block those (nor does Firefox), because popups opened by user action are usually legitimate; unfortunately, some sites abuse that and attach popups to their links. I'm going to close this on the assumption that that is what is happening here (and since there is now a lot of noise in this bug). If you do find a specific site that is able to open popups without direct user action, please file a new bug with the specific details of what page you were on. (If you do file a new bug, please keep it focused on the specific issue you are reporting; tangents about hangs, which are unrelated to popups, just confuse the bug report.)
