User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032712 Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Firefox/3.0.8
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032712 Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Firefox/3.0.8
FF does not honor the 'selected' attribute when the value of the option changes (dynamically generated by the server).
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create a HTML file with the code below:
<html>
<body>
<select id="s2" multiple="multiple">
<option>Low</option>
<option selected="selected">Medium</option>
<option selected="selected">High</option>
</select>
</body>
</html>
2. Open the html in FF
3. Open the html file in a text editor and change the option value "High" to "High bug" (without quotes)
4. Save the file and refresh the page.
Actual Results:
When the page is refreshed the 'selected' attribute for "High bug" is not being picked up.
Expected Results:
For the file in the above example, 'High bug' should be selected
I was able to reproduce this problem on FF 3.08 (64-bit) Ubuntu and FF 3.08 (32-bit) Widows XP. Chrome and IE7 do not have this issue.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.10pre) Gecko/2009041006 GranParadiso/3.0.10pre
Works fine for me. Tried the Reload button and F5.
Can you clear your cache and retest?
Version: unspecified → 3.0 Branch
I tried after clearing the cache but still does not work. I have attached a screenshot so you can see what's happening. I actually ran into this issue when I was using a jQuery plugin and I thought it was the plugin's issue but the author of the plugin checked and it looked to be a FF issue. You can see my bug report for that plugin here:
http://code.google.com/p/dropdown-check-list/issues/detail?id=6
(the author has a screenshot of the DOM tree on that page)
I was able to get this working when I set my http header Cache-Control to 'no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate'

Ok, yes I see. I misread the bug and now I can reproduce the problem with the latest trunk build on Windows XP. When I do Shift+Reload however it behaves correctly.
Yup, Shift+Reload button works. Thanks for looking into this!
