488017 - Autoupdate from Firefox 3.0 only proposes 3.0.5 instead of 3.0.8

Under Windows XP, Firefox 3.0 (fr) automatically downloads v3.05 instead of v3.0.8.
After restarting Firefox for applying v3.0.5, then it downloads v3.0.8.

Firefox 3.0 should directly download the latest available update version.

Update snippet seems to be pointing from 3.0 to 3.0.8 as it should. Perhaps the 3.0.5 download had initiated in the background ? That'd be bug 485624 (spun off from bug 353804).

I tried Fx3.0 fr (2008052906) on XP and when I check for updates I get an offer to download and install 3.0.8.

Just tried no Vista and couldn't reproduce, I guess this probably needs further investigation or is indeed a dupe of bug 485624.

If this could give some «light » : I use a VM machine under Windows XP.
I first installed FF 3.0, then didn't use this VM except for other projects.
Meanwhile, I made an upgrade for Windows XP SP3.
Then, I launched FF 3.0, and got this result.

Cédric: It sounds like one time you tried it started an update in the background and then didn't cancel it, which is what bug 485624 is all about.
