User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032608 Firefox/3.0.8 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032608 Firefox/3.0.8 Often in the FF3 bookmarks sidebar, dropping something causes whatever is under the cursor after the drop to be opened. It may be the thing that was dropped, or it may be something else if the drop caused items to shift up or down. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: In the bookmarks sidebar, grab something, drag it somewhere, drop it, and if necessary, repeat. After a few times (about 3 for me), something will open that you did not click on.
is this still reproduceable in Firefox 3.5.2 or later?
Yes.
Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.10 or later in safe mode or a fresh profile? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing. http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles
Whiteboard: [CLOSEME 2010-11-01]
Yes. Fresh profile except for the usual imported bookmarks (from freshly-exported HTML). I was surprised anyone who tested it on a Mac would have to ask, since the behavior is so obvious...until it occurred to me just now that perhaps the number of bookmarks is what is revealing the timing bug. I have about 7,000 bookmarks. Which, incidentally, is why I still cannot upgrade from FF 3.5.x: because FF 3.6.x locks up for 15+ minutes to process 7,000 bookmarks every single time the menubar Bookmarks menu is triggered (but not the sidebar or the Organize Bookmarks window). 3.5.x (usually) does not. See bug 544758 .
