Reporter, is a process for Firefox showing in the Activity Monitor? Does the following command at least show the profile manager? Does it work with the current profile? If not can you create a new profile please and check if this will work? /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox -p -no-remote
Hardware: Other → x86
Version: unspecified → 3.0 Branch
Mac PowerPC server running Workgroup Mgr, Ver 10.5.5. Client computers running Mac OSX 10.5.6. Could not see current student profile. Deleted offending student in Workgroup Mgr, deleted student 'home' directory, added student back into Workgroup Mgr (which probably made new profile). Student can now open Firefox. So, the problem seems to be with random legacy student profiles. At least, now I have a local solution.

Profiles in Firefox are where configurations, bookmarks, passwords, etc. are stored. http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles. So, I think doing what you did would create a new profile automatically.

Bcoe, I believe the connection from your clients to the server is using the AFP protocol then? Also the whole profile is stored on the server and mapped as the users profile under /Users? If this problem occurs again for a complete fresh OS X profile you should store a copy and compare it with the newly created profile. Is there any difference?

No reply, INCO. Please reopen if this still happens in Firefox 3.5.1 or later in Firefox Safe Mode or a new Profile. http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles
