delay in editing preferences
if I do a fresh launch of fennec, then click the config icon to see my addons/downloads/prefs, I am taken to the addons page (which automatically queries amo). I immediately click on the preferences button and try to change a preference (say the jit pref). It does nothing. I click on it a few times with no luck. About 30 seconds later, it appears to work and then clicking on it to turn on/off works as expected. I suspect the browser is busy searching for addons? Also, why do we not remember which config option we were on before (if I was on preferences before, I end up at addons when I go back in).
It is really slow. I think slower than the old extension manager...

I can look into switching to a yielding load, like we do in download manager
(In reply to comment #0) > Also, why do we not > remember which config option we were on before (if I was on preferences before, > I end up at addons when I go back in). Not in my build. We do remember the last browser tool and use it when we go back in. This is during the same session. If you close the app or open a new window, then we forget.
Also, we delay loading the contents of the manager until the manager is selected. Maybe we should default to Preferences instead of Add-ons?
Another idea: We could put a button in the "Get Addons" section so the user could initiate pulling the list of addons from AMO. We would not load the list by default.
We decided to make Preferences the default panel for now.
Simply make the Preferences the default panel in the <deck> and make sure the button is "pressed"
