Details
From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.73 [en] (X11; U; Linux 2.2.17pre16 i586) BuildID: 2000081420 The Linux Mozilla build is missing files! If you untar mozilla in a clean directory and run it, you will find that you cannot switch GUI themes at all. I was curious as to why this was, and compared it to the directory structure of my Windows install (which allows me to switch themes fine). I solved it by copying the all-skins.rdf to the chrome directory. Clearly the problem needs to be fixed by carefully checking that each build is sent out with the proper files. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Grab Mozilla 2. Untar 3. Notice how you can't change themes :) Actual Results: I couldn't change themes! Expected Results: I should've seen a list of themes, and been able to change between them.
exactly which tarball did you download? (Filename and full size, please.) I don't see the error you describe in ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/2000-08-14-20-M18/mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu.tar.gz (filesize 7960374)
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu-talkback.tar.gz No themes because of lack of the proper rdf in it :-( Ditto for the M17 package.

over to installer as a guess, doesn't look like a prefs bug.

We package all the files in dist, so the build system needs to have something added to it to copy this file to the correct location in dist, bumping over to themes.

The all-skins.rdf is not supposed to be distributed. It is created on startup during the first run of mozilla. But if your not root this will not work. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 45229 ***
