This is a request to temporarily disable the various RewriteRules for mozilla.com thunderbird links sending traffic to mozillamessaging.com The work on getting there redirects in place was bug 480373. This is a request for Wednesday, April 29th, at a time not yet determined. During the physical move of all our gear to the new rack, this is the simplest, quick-n-easy way to avoid not serving start pages to the existing Thunderbird install base. Once the rack move is more accurately scheduled and ready, I'll update this bug and will be available on IRC to co-ordinate. Let me know if there are any problems/issues with doing this.
Are you sure that all those pages exist on mozilla.com? I vaguely only remember creating some of them on mozillamessaging.com last release. But it might be that I'm tired. :)
(In reply to comment #1) > Are you sure that all those pages exist on mozilla.com? I vaguely only remember > creating some of them on mozillamessaging.com last release. If you are talking about the 2.0.0.21 release, there seems to be stuff in mozilla.com svn: http://svn.mozilla.org/projects/mozilla.com/trunk/en-US/thunderbird/2.0.0.21/ So if that's good enough, I am okay with what's there. Most likely, this will be a time window of 1-2 hours, so it's just a better alternative, IMO.
Yep. That looks good. I couldn't remember.
Once I give the green light, how long before the change is live ?

Why does this require IT's assistance? Seems like somebody from the www.mozilla.com team could just comment out the rewrite rules in the .htaccess file for production.

They could but the last I remember the auto-updating for moz.com was disabled so IT needs to be involved anyway. Has that been re-enabled?
Regardless of how has the ability to do this, it can be done now. The move hasn't started yet, but I don't want to cut it too close. So, this is a green light to stop redirecting traffic to mozillamessaging.com as soon as convenient/possible. Thanks.
Done in r25116. Will be live "soon" (minutes). I verified the pages still worked on trunk but you might want to do a quick run through as soon as this is live to make sure stuff isn't broken. Let me know when you want to revert.
