User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.9) Gecko/2009040821 Firefox/3.0.10 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 Firefox/3.0.10 www.thewebyourway.com:443 uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for the following names: unitedontheweb.com , www.unitedontheweb.com , unitedontheweb.com , gettheauction.com , thetuesdayreview.com , getthebar.com , adsbyer.com (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain) The bottom of this message has an "OK" button to close the message, but no information on how to stop/fix it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open the internet using Mozilla Firefox 3.0.10 (before typing anything) 2. 3. Actual Results: press the "OK" button on the bottom of the message to close the window. Expected Results: I can then use the internet as usual. But if I close and reopen the internet screen, then the error message will reappear. give me information on "what this message means?" and "how do I resolve/stop this message from reappearing?" Since I don't understand whether my computer's security is compromised by this error, I will not be using Mozilla Firefox until I hear from you.
The site https://www.thewebyourway.com/ does indeed have an invalid certificate, a misconfigured site. Good thing, I guess, since it may be alerting you that you have something installed that you don't want. The Safe-mode mentioned by Ria will most likely disable it (depending on what's installed where) and if so let us figure out how to remove it. If you try to go directly to http://www.thewebyourway.com/ you get redirected to http://getthebar.com/ which seems to be some kind of advertising toolbar. Do you see an extra toolbar? If not, if you go to the "View" menu and open the "toolbars" submenu does anything other than the "Navigation Toolbar", "Bookmarks Toolbar", and "Customize..." show up there? If you open the "Add-ons" dialog from the Tools menu, do you see anything on any of those tabs that you didn't install and don't want? Please tell us what you see listed on the Extensions, Themes, and Plugins tabs. If you don't see any surface evidence of TheBar it could be that someone is trying to defraud _them_, by infecting other people and having them sign in as the fraudster so their account accrues the money-for-ad-watching that theBar people promise.
Daniel, I followed your suggestions with the following results: 1) In View menu, "The Bar Toolbar" was also listed. 2) In Tools menu, under Add-ons & Extensions, "The Bar Toolbar" was listed. How do I safely delete "The Bar Toolbar" without effecting other settings?
You can disable the addon and uninstall it with the uninstall button. If this extension is installed by a application on your system the uninstall button is grey and you have to uninstall it thorugh the external application on your sysdtem.
