Details
If a Fennec user clicks on a link to an Atom feed for a site, the user will receive a download prompt as the browser attempts to download the file. In contrast, RSS feeds are displayed inline as xml (which has other bugs open on it). We should display the contents of an Atom feed. This was found with the build that I made today on OS X. You can test this on any blogspot site, such as http://zenmirror.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default.

I'm moving this to enhancement bug and flagging this as approval for wanted-fennec1.0 Btw, this is happening on build: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux armv6l; en-US; rv:1.9.3a1pre) Gecko/20090827 Fennec/1.0b4pre
Severity: normal → enhancement
Flags: wanted-fennec1.0?

Now that Fennec 1.0 is feature complete, this needs to be fixed so users don't get this page anymore and, instead, get something a little bit more understandable.
Severity: enhancement → major

Is displaying the raw Atom feed really any better?

You're right Mark, displaying the raw Atom feed isn't any better, but we definitely need a better solution to this bug :(.

out of curiosity, is there an rss feed reading app on the device your testing? If there is we should be kicking out to that rather than trying to download the xml locally. If not, that's a separate bug from bug 477714
