User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20090505 Minefield/3.6a1pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20090505 Minefield/3.6a1pre If I type a few character in the search box in Library History view, Firefox goes unresponsive for several seconds. This is on a 5-year old 1GB AMD Athlon 3000. I have a lot of history and have been running nightlies for years. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. History > Show All History. 2. Type something in the search box Actual Results: All browser windows lock up for about 7 seconds, with no busy cursor or other feedback. Subsequent searches seem to lock up for less time, about 3 seconds. Expected Results: A busy (or "searching") cursor appears in the Library window, and the main Firefox window continues to be responsive. Just having the Library window open to History slows down Firefox, but I'm not sure of the exact circumstances.
Adding [TSnappiness] and perf per Dietrich Ayala's "Front-end Performance in Firefox 3.5 and Beyond" post http://autonome.wordpress.com/2009/05/05/front-end-performance-in-firefox-35-and-beyond/ post.

confirming, since we know that is slow. i can't find a dupe atm, and that's strange. I suppose we could have a similar bug about searching in the sidebar.

Bug 490714 should help this by at least freeing up the UI.
Confirmed with Firefox 3.5.2 on Windows XP. As a side note I see Firefox eating lot of CPU while performing the search in Show All History panel.
