When logged in to a site with username/password authentication,with firefox option set to remember password.The next time when you login to that site, the password field will be filled with black dots and user name field is empty. When the username is typed and submitted the black dots vanished and says empty password. You have to type in the password again to work...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Log in to any site having a username/password authentication
2.When logged in firefox will ask if you want to remember password for that site- answer YES
3.Close the tab and Restart firefox (Optional it seems) and try logging in again
Actual Results:  
The password field is filled with black dots and username field is empty!!. When the username is typed and submitted the black dots vanished and says empty password. You have to type in the password again to work...

Expected Results:  
Both username and password field should be seen as filled with the values given to remember.

What sites? Works for me using https://support.mozilla.com/tiki-login_scr.php and http://slashdot.org/my/logout

Works for me. Do you have more than one account for irctc.co.in? If yes then you need to select a name before the password manager will select a password.

I am not sure if I have another account ..Even in that case once I type in the username it should automatically select the correct password,right? I am required to re-enter the password even when I asked firefox to remember it!!!

This is a mass search for bugs which are in the Firefox General component, are
UNCO, have not been changed for 500 days and have an unspecified version. 

Reporter, can you please update to Firefox 3.6.10 or later, create a fresh profile, http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/managing+profiles, and test again. If you still see the issue, please update this bug. If the issue is gone, please set the status to RESOLVED > WORKSFORME.

No reply from reporter, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.12 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
