User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.7) Gecko/2009021910 Firefox/3.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.7) Gecko/2009021910 Firefox/3.0.7 The program gets into a state during which attempting to create a new bookmark folder causes the name of the selected folder in which the new folder is to be created and all entries above it to become highlighted but no new entry creation line is opened for naming the new folder and the attempt has to be abandoned. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Right click on page to be bookmarked. 2. Select and left click on BOOKMARK THIS PAGE. 3. Left click on upper right arrow button. 4. Scroll to folder in which new folder is to be created. 5. Left click on name of folder in which new folder is to be created. 6. Left click NEW FOLDER button. 7. Abandon hope and cancel. Actual Results: No line is opened to enter new folder name as one is when the program is behaving properly. Expected Results: Duh.... This version has so many new bugs I've added this bug reporting page to my toolbar! Congrats guys! Lots of new enhancements and bells and whistles and new bugs to go with them. Why not concentrate on refining the existing version to get rid of the old bugs??? No fun, huh?
IIRC this was caused by an add-on, please try Safe Mode http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
Add on??????????? *WRONG!!!!* I installed the raw standard distribution. There were no add-ons installed on the copy I upgraded from nor did I install any on this version.
Still, please follow suggestion in comment 1, you should be able to reproduce your bug while Safe Mode is active. Also please ensure you don't have any userchrome and that you are using the default theme.
Safe mode? Do you want me to reboot the PC in safe mode? If not, what are you talking about?
See the link in comment 1, that will explain you everything you need to know.
Some day when I have infinite amounts of time to waste and nothing else to do I might do that. Since restarting Firefox in normal mode will clear the problem and the problem will come back at some random time, restarting it in SAFE MODE will prove nothing in the short term. I really have better things to do with my time than join the Mozilla team as a beta tester.
