The Prism desktop icons on Linux only reopen Firefox. For me, this means that Firefox reopens and restores all of my tabs. It does not launch Prism interface or go to a specific web app URL.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to Gmail, and use Prism to create a Prism application, with an Icon on the desktop.
2. Close the Gmail tab, and then close Firefox.
3. Click on the Gmail desktop icon created by Prism.
Actual Results:
Firefox opens and restores my tabs. Gmail was not open when I closed Firefox, and none of the tabs navigate to Gmail.

Expected Results:
The Prism interface should launch and navigate to Gmail.

Using Prism for Firefox 1.0b1
See bug 436998 for the reason for this failure. It has been fixed on Mozilla trunk. It has not been pushed to Firefox 3.5 branch.

There might be a temporary fix we could add to Prism to workaround the issue.
Confirmed. I have the same problem in Ubuntu 8.04 with Firefox 3.0.10.

A fix or at least workaround would be welcome.

mfinkle what'd be the prism side workaround ? i could have a look asap ...
Confirmed. I have same problem in PCLinuxOS 2009.1 KDE, firefox 3.0.10 ... unfortunately!!
In terms of a workaround, the Prism installation code could be changed to use the xulrunner executable instead of Firefox when the extension is used on Linux. See http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozillasvn/source/projects/webrunner/trunk/newapp/modules/WebAppInstall.jsm#291, which is where Prism decides what executable to use to run the app.

Does this mean this bug is fixed? I'm a bit aware of that claim as the bug 436998 has been fixed nearly month ago and I installed Prism far later from Mozilla Add-ons and it still doesn't work.

When the fix will be pushed into the official extension channel?
