Various server-side spam filtering engines (in packages like CanSpam, as well as Yahoo and Gmail, I believe) have APIs that are used to indicate that a user has marked a message as "Junk" or "Not Junk". I suspect these APIs are just HTTP POSTs, though I haven't verified that. It would be a fine thing to be able to configure Thunderbird (both manually and as part of autoconfig, I suspect) to automatically propagate that feedback back to the server engines.

I believe this could be accomplished through an extension, as there are sufficient notifications of change of junk status that an extension could hook into.

With GMail I believe we can just move messages to the Spam folder ( https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=78759 ) but the idea in general makes sense.
