Which version are you using?
What happens when you try to send then? Please give all the details of e.g. what any error message says.

(From private email) - Thunderbird 2.0.0.21 (Windows/20090302)
---
Error Message reads:
Sending of Message failed
The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server smtp.telus.net failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connection
Please verify that your SMTP server settings are correct and try again or else contact your network administrator
---
If settings are correct (check port too), sounds like a firewall/antivirus is blocking you. Have you tried disabling your firewall and antivirus?
Version: unspecified → 2.0

Hi There Thanks for the email
I looked in Command Prompt and typed in 'telnet.smtp.telus.net25" and got the following message
"is not recongized as an internal or external commant operable program or hatch file"
I take this could be the reason why I can not forward or send attached emails
Please what can I do to fix this
Thanks for your help so far ]
Regards
M Butler

That should be
telnet smtp.telus.net 25
(notice the spaces!) Make sure it's port 25 that you're supposed to use.
Also, are you inside their network? ISPs don't usually allow connections to the smtp server from outside their networks, at least on port 25...

Hi Magnus
Thanks for your reply
I checked again using the spaces and still the same message also I checked the port and is set at #25 . As for being inside there network I assume I am outside?. How do I find out Do I have to ask them last time I approached them for help they were pretty hostile saying this fault is nothing to do with them

If you use your ISPs SMTP server from home you're inside their network, otherwise you're outside.
Do sending of mails without attachments work?
Either way, this seems more like a support question, so try
