After I have hit the submit button when creating a new account, I immediately get sent to the homepage. That's a bit of a shock!

I think we need a thank you for registering page. I will work on the text for that.

Attached are 2 versions of the "Thank you for Registering" Page

1) For those who registered as a 'Volunteer' and 2) for those who registered that they "need help'.
Attached file Thank you for registering - Need Help (obsolete) —
We may also want to send an email to that person?

If so - some text is also attached.

We would need to set up an email address for this function. NB: For Download Day we actually used admin@spreadfirefox ...

Lastly, I'm not sure how we would handle anyone who wants to unsubscribe from emails about Mozilla Service Week. In the ToS, one has usually agree to recieve emails about the account one has signed up for (otherwise, how could we communicate?)... but it is usual practise to offer an unsubscribe for more promotional type emails. Ideas?

Thanks
Jane

Regarding the copy in Documents
New Register Thank You ...

Do we want to skip the thank you page, depending on what the user was doing before they were forced to login/register?

Example:
I click "Tell us what your planning"
I'm forced to create an account
I could go directly to the tell_us/your_pledges instead of a thank you page.
(In reply to comment #6)
I don't want to put the user's password in the email.
They can use Forgot Your Password, if they need to later.

We have email opt in during account creation flow.

This is a welcome email, confirming account creation.

Let's not put in an unsubscribe link, until it is an email generated and sent based on their opt-in preference.

Ideally we would build out an account page, but we can have a simple link that unsubscribes them like you've specified in the copy.

k - thanks Austin.

I would suggest:

i) NEW REGISTER from homepage
ii) FORCED TO REGISTER from Tell us your story
iii) LOG IN

should ALL go straight away to: http://stage.ozten.com/tell_us/your_pledges/en_US and no thank you page is displayed. However in the case of:

i) NEW REGISTER from homepage
ii) FORCED TO REGISTER from Tell us your story

a "Thank you EMAIL" is still sent out. We can use the attached text for emails, minus the password.

The "email opt in during account creation flow" - is actually to recieve updates on Mozilla (which I had seen as these folks would like to get more information from Mozilla on other Mozilla topics.

Agreed it would be nice to have an account page -- but I'm trying to see where it would make sense to have this right now... and struggling. Do you have any thoughts Austin? For now, happy that we include the unsubscribe in a promotional email footer for now. Okay?

Hi Jane,
These are plain text emails.

How do you want the linking style?

Example:
You can find more on how to list your needs by visiting the 'I Need Help' section, (URL to http://stage.ozten.com/learn_more/get_help/en_US) there you can find some great ideas and suggestions on how to find a volunteer.

Here are two options...

Austin, I am sorry for these changes... I saw there was a minor error in one, and we needed to add a login url to the other.
